Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the best dimensions and layout for a political yard sign to ensure readability from a distance?
A: The best political yard sign dimension depends on the font size and the viewing distance. However, in most cases, the 18” x 24” sign is enough to include the candidate’s slogan, their name, and the election year. Additionally, if you want the sign to be readable 30-100 feet away, a letter height of 3 inches is a good starting point.

Q: Which key messages should be highlighted on a campaign postcard to capture voters' attention quickly?
A: There are some of the tried-and-tested messages that will surely capture the voters’ attention:

  • Critical issues together with campaign promises
  • Political stance and future plans and policies
  • Call-to-action messages, e.g., visit a campaign website, contact the candidate’s office, remember to vote, etc.

Q: How much should I budget for printing 1,000 door hangers, and how does this cost breakdown per unit?
A: The cost depends on certain variables, such as the size of the door hanger, single-sided vs. double-sided printing, etc. But to give you an idea, it will cost $158.80, or $0.16 per unit, if you order 1,000 pieces of 3.5 x 8.5 door hangers with a gloss finish and single-sided printing, and choose the five-day printing turnaround.

Q: What are the cost implications of using high-quality materials versus standard materials for campaign flyers?
A: When you use high-quality campaign flyers, you reap many benefits: Your printed materials are visually appealing and easy to read, therefore increasing their effectiveness and impact.

Q: What is the typical turnaround time for printing and shipping 15 campaign banners?
A: You can choose the two-day or five-day printing turnaround time, depending on how urgently you need your campaign banners.

Q: How long should I expect the design process to take before going to print my campaign brochures?
A: If you use our free campaign brochure templates that come with proper bleed and margin, and the text and design are ready to be dragged and dropped, the design process may take just a few minutes.

Q: What are the most effective strategies for distributing campaign flyers in urban versus rural areas?
A: In urban settings, you can distribute campaign flyers in high-traffic areas such as malls and subway stations. By contrast, door-to-door distribution may not be feasible or practical in large cities, although you can use this approach in rural areas where individuals often know each other, fostering a tight-knit community.

Q: How can I use direct mail to effectively target specific voter demographics with campaign postcards?
A: When using direct mail such as campaign postcards, personalization is critical. Simply put, your message should convey a highly targeted message that appeals to specific voter demographics.

Q: How can I integrate QR codes into my printed campaign materials to drive online engagement?
A: Ensure that your QR code will direct people quickly to the landing page or any online destination, which must be optimized for user experience, relevant to the target audience, and mobile-friendly. By providing valuable and engaging content that aligns with their core values and expectations, you can enjoy a high conversion rate.

Q: What high-quality images and graphics are most effective in creating a strong visual identity for my campaign?
A: Consider using campaign photos that feature a candidate speaking to individuals. It’s also ideal to include a landmark or any location that represents your district or state’s iconic feature.

Q: How long does it take to get my election campaign materials delivered?
A: We can have your political campaign materials ready in 1 business day. This means that if your design proof is approved by 8pm ET, your order will be printed and ready for delivery in 24 hours – or your order is free.

Q: What is printing turnaround time?
A: Printing turnaround refers to the time it takes for us to print your order and have it ready for shipping. Printing turnaround does not include delivery time, so it is important to account for this when you place your order. Your order will be ready for shipping after your preferred printing turnaround time, which you can specify in the order calculator.

Printing turnaround time does not cover weekends, holidays, and shipping carrier delays in picking up order for shipment or in delivering orders.

Q: What services are not covered by printing turnaround time?
A: Printing turnaround time does not include custom orders, mailing services, and/or ink jetting. For more information, contact our customer service through phone or live chat support.

Q: Can you mail my campaign postcards and brochures for me?
A: Yes, we offer print and mail services for you to have one less thing to worry about and focus on more important things. You can submit your own mailing list or rent a residential mailing list or commercial mailing list from us. Learn more about how Every Door Direct Mail® and our direct mailing services can help your campaign reach a wider audience.

Q: How do I create my campaign material?
A: We offer a wide variety of political campaign materials that are easy to customize according to size, material, and finish.

To start, simply select your product (e.g. brochure, flyers, etc.). Use our order calculator in the product page to select the size, quantity, material, and other necessary specifications.

After you have selected your preferred printing turnaround time, the order calculator will provide the price of your order. If you are satisfied with the order information, proceed with uploading your artwork.

If you don’t have a design yet, you can use our online design tool, Create48, to choose pre-designed templates that you can easily tweak and customize. You can also download our blank file guidelines in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Publisher format. They include predefined guidelines indicating our bleed, trim, and safety zone specifications.

Q: How much do I save when I order in bulk?
A: For example, if you order 250 pieces of 4” x 6” postcards, it will cost $0.44 per piece. If you order 1,000 postcards, it will cost $0.16 per piece.

You can find the price of each item at the bottom of the order calculator, located under the total printing cost.

Q: What do you mean by "trim," "safe zone," and "bleed"?
A: These are important terms to help you know which elements of your design are within printing guidelines.

“Trim” shows you the full, finished size of the printed product. When laying out your design, the images and copy placed in this area will be trimmed off.

The “safe zone” is inside the trim. This is where you should include important elements and information within your design to avoid them being cut off.

The “bleed” is the extra material that will be trimmed off. It’s important to extend your design’s edges a little so you’re not left with white edges.

Q: What type of files can I submit for printing
A: We accept PDF, JPG, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Publisher files. You can set up your print file with our free downloadable templates.

Q: Which color format should I send, CMYK, RGB, or PANTONE
A: To avoid color issues and receive accurate results, we recommend that you set your file to CMYK before saving. During the proofing process, all RGB or PANTONE files will be converted to CMYK as a requirement for the printing press, but this will likely change the colors of your design. That is why we highly encourage you to provide files that are already set to CMYK.

Q: Is my artwork checked for errors before it is print
A: We offer two proofing options. If you select “Print Right Away,” your file will get a 30-point human review to ensure technical quality. We’ll contact you immediately for any problems that can’t be fixed.

Choosing “I want a PDF proof” gives you the opportunity to review the PDF file before we proceed to printing. Note that you’ll need to approve the file first before we can start production.
