Cut or Rolled?

Our permanent, all-purpose adhesive labels come in both cut-to-size and rolled formats, but what’s the difference?

It all depends on the quantity, application, and your preferred materials. Here’s what you need to know to choose the right type for your business.

Cut-to-Size Labels

Individually cut and shipped in stacks. Cut-to-size labels are popular for promotions because they’re easy to hand out and insert in event goodie bags.

For smaller quantities below 250 pieces, we recommend cut-to-size stickers. You can print them in square, rectangle, or oval shapes. We offer two (2) types of materials for cut-to-size labels:

White paper sticker is suitable for indoor use, and comes in matte, gloss, or high gloss UV coating.

White vinyl sticker is perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. This UV-resistant material is often used for bumper stickers and comes in high gloss UV coating.

Roll Labels

Printed and rolled around a spool. This type works best for bulk orders. Our roll labels fit most label dispensers, and are easier to peel off and apply. Get your labels in square, rectangle, and oval shape. We offer three (3) types of materials for roll labels.

White premium sticker is for indoor, non-waterproof products. Add a protective finish with gloss and matte coating.

Biaxially-oriented polypropylene or BOPP comes in white, white removable, clear, rainbow holographic, or silver metallic. These are popular for food labels because they are non-toxic, as well as their resistance to oil, moisture, and refrigeration.

Estate adhesive paper comes in white vellum texture, white laid texture, and cream laid texture. This type of material is typically used for wine bottles and mailing labels. Writable surface when left uncoated. Use matte coating for added protection.

Any Size and Shape Under the Sun

We offer practically any shape and size imaginable for label printing. We offer square, rectangle, circle, oval, heart, starburst, hexagon, and arch shapes as standard. Got another shape in mind? We’ll take care of it. Select ‘Custom’ from the Shape dropdown menu and place your desired dimensions. As long as you can imagine it and it can fit in our printers, we’ll create the perfect custom label for you.

For individually cut labels, we can print as small as 1.5” x 2.5” all the way up to 6” x 6”. For rolls, you can print labels as small as 0.5” x 0.5” and as large as 6” x 12”.

Roll labels on the other hand, provide more customization options. Select ‘Custom’ from the Shape dropdown menu and place your desired dimensions. You can print labels as small as 0.5” x 0.5” and as large as 6” x 12”.

Custom Labels You’ll Definitely Look At

Before uploading your design, here are a few design and printing tips.

Coating does more than protect.

Matte, gloss, or high-gloss UV finishes don’t just prevent external damage to your labels. The coating you choose can make or break your design. In fact, these finishes are often matched with a business’ branding.

  • Gloss coating adds shine and saturation, ideal for vibrant, colorful designs.
  • High-gloss UV coating lends an even brighter sheen to your prints.
  • Matte coating has a more subdued, elegant effect, and is easy on the eyes. Producing muted colors and a softer sheen, dark backgrounds and text-heavy designs draw more focus and stand out with this type of finish.

Consider your product packaging.

Is your product contained in a white plastic bottle or is it inside glass jar? More than its durability, your label material should also complement your container. If your product is inside a solid-colored bottle, consider printing on clear BOPP so you don’t break the visual flow with your label’s background color. Clear BOPP effectively creates that unique, no-label look especially for products that need to be seen.

Add the important elements.

Don’t forget about labeling requirements. You’ll need to include ingredients, usage instructions, nutrition information, amount, and other product specifications. If you’re selling for retail, you should also include a barcode.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to print my custom labels?

This will depend on your selected “printing turnaround time” – the time it takes for us to get your order printed and ready for delivery. Printing turnaround time does not include shipping transit time, weekends, and holidays. Our fastest printing turnaround for custom labels is one (1) business day.

Is there a minimum order quantity for custom labels?

A minimum of 100 pieces is required for cut-to-size labels while for rolls, the minimum is 250 labels per order.

What is “trim”, “safe zone”, and “bleed” in label design?

These are printing terms to help you check if your design is within our printing guidelines to ensure you get the results you want.

  • Trim is the finished size of your custom labels. Any design outside the trim area will be cut off.
  • The safe zone is inside the trim and where all the important elements of your design should be located.
  • The bleed area exists for you to extend unnecessary edges of your design. When the bleed edges are trimmed off, you won’t be left with any white edges.

Can I get some samples first?

You can request for a sample pack of our different printing materials. This includes different printouts of our available stocks and coatings for you to know which works best for your print project.

Just fill in the details and let us know about your current project or "print challenge" so we can find the perfect samples to help you.
